King John's Hunting Lodge is a 15th century wood framed, jettied building occupying one of the most prestigious sites in the market town of Axbridge. It is owned by the National Trust and operated as a museum by the Axbridge and District Museum Trust. The collecting area includes all the villages from Wedmore to Shipham, Cheddar to Brent Knoll and Mark to Brean. There is a core collection illustrating local history, geologly and archaeloogy of the area and a programme of temporary exhibitions reflecting local life and heritage.
